After going home early in 2021 at Grayhawk, Wake Forest Women’s Golf hit the mark in 2023, notching the program’s first-ever NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championship. The Demon Deacons held off a hard-charging USC team, fresh off big wins the day before against South Carolina and defending champions, Stanford.

Led by Rachel Kuehn and Emilia Migliaccio, Wake jumped out to take control of the match, with 6 and 4 and 4 and 2 wins, respectively, to go 2-1-0. Senior Lauren Walsh, who led her match against USC’s Brianna Navarrosa by as much as 5-up, put the finishing touches on the championship win with a middle-of-the-green tee shot on the par-3 16th hole.

The Trojans settled for second place for the sixth time in USC history. Catherine Park posted the lone point for the team, with a 3 and 1 win. She also made a great run at the individual championship, ending up one stroke off the pace set by champion, Rose Zhang.
