On the heels of Florida’s Fred Biondi taking the individual title, teammate Ricky Castillo turned the tide in favor of the Gators in the team semifinals, with a nail-biting win against FSU’s Brett Roberts. Castillo prevailed 3-2 with a birdie on the third playoff hole, launching the Gators into the final match against Georgia Tech.
The Yellow Jackets’ Ross Steelman is well on the way to making good on his goal to shake off a near-miss in the individual championship and bring home the team championship. With Georgia Tech and North Carolina tied 2-2 late in the match, Steelman’s putter helped him maintain a 1-up lead heading into the final hole. His driver did the rest. After a routine four, Georgia closed out North Caroline to advance to the championship match against Florida.
