UA Wildcats’ Yu-Sang Hou

QUARTERFINALS UPDATE – TUESDAY MORNING, MAY 25, 2021

The University of Arizona Wildcats pulled off a stunning 8-seed-versus-1-seed upset in the quarterfinal match of the 2021 NCAA Women’s Golf Championship. In the 3-to-2 victory: Vivian Hou took care of business with a 2&1 win; Yu-Sang Hou dominated 5 & 3; and Gile Bite Starkute clinched the win after 19 holes.

This unexpected win was made all the more unlikely given The Cardinal’s exceptional play in the 4-day stroke play competition where Rachel Heck won the individual title and the team as a whole earned the #1 seed for match play after finishing a whopping 13 strokes ahead of #2 seed Duke.

Plus, on that same day, UA’s birth into match play, touch-and-go most of the way during the 4th round, finally came into focus on the final hole.
